Mike was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1945. He graduated from San Leandro High School (California) in 1963, after participating in many activities that included Student Body President in 1962/1963.
He attended San Jose State University and graduated in 1968 with a degree in Political Science (emphasis in City Management/Public Administration).
He joined the U.S. Army in 1968 and was discharged honorably as a Buck Sergeant E-5 in 1974.
He worked for Owens-Illinois, Inc. for 27 years in various management positions, retiring from there in 1998. He was then employed by Sempra Energy, Inc. as the Vice President of Business Development for 4 years before retiring a second time.
Other activities were as follows:
· Member of PTA and volunteer coaching in baseball, football, softball and soccer.
· Member of school SITE committee.
· Vice-Chairman of the California Manufacturers Association (CMA) (1,000 members).
· Chairman of the CMA Energy Committee.
· Member of the CMA Transportation Committee.
· Founder and Chairman of the California Industrial Committee.
· Marine Corps League Griswold Mountain Detachment member.
· Madera County Sheriff’s Department Search & Rescue member.
· Gold panning and teaching same in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
Before arriving in Texas in 2019, and after retiring, Mike and Brenda owned and lived on a small ranch in Coarsegold, CA. They enjoyed our dogs, cats, goats, chickens, and horses for almost 20 years. They have downsized now and stay active at the WRS Athletic Club, the McLennan County Republican Club, and reside in Robinson.
Most important to Mike is that he has been blessed to be married to my wife Brenda for 40 years and have two great sons and three wonderful grandchildren.
